The Future Skills Organisation (FSO), the Jobs and Skills Council (JSC) for Finance, Technology and Business sectors in Australia, is set to embark on a journey to Darwin and Alice Springs. Their aim is to engage with diverse stakeholders, including businesses, industry professionals, and registered training organisations (RTOs) within the Northern Territory (NT) to gather valuable insights. As one of the ten Jobs and Skills Councils (JSCs) of the Australian Government, the FSO plays a central role in the skilling and training system in NT’s FTB sectors. Their vision is to empower industries with a more influential and strategic voice, ensuring improved outcomes for both learners and employers in the vocational education and training (VET) sector.
It was also stated that courses like the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, Diploma of Beauty Therapy, and Diploma of Community Services exhibit lower rates of continued study in both vocational education and higher education. Nevertheless, foundation skills courses like Certificate I and II in Spoken and Written English acted as crucial springboards, with 61% of students progressing to further VET studies. Furthermore, 15.7% of VET graduates pursued additional VET education, while 6.7% enrolled in higher education programs, signifying a culture of lifelong learning.
ISACNT is proud to be hosting the upcoming events in Darwin and Alice Springs, which mark a significant opportunity for industry engagement. The FSO's team of experts will lead interactive sessions where participants have the chance to delve into various critical aspects. These include examining the root causes of skills and occupation shortages, exploring alternative lenses for assessing skills, understanding the learner and employee experience within FTB sectors, identifying ways to enhance rural and remote employment opportunities, addressing workforce diversity, and any other significant areas you deem essential for shaping the focus of the next Workforce Plan.
Whether you're an employer, association, trainer, or industry professional, your active participation will drive the development of practical training programs contributing to an industry-ready workforce.
Your insights are invaluable in shaping the future of industry training standards.
Join the FSO and ISACNT in forging a path toward industry-focused education excellence.
